May 22, 2025 | Featured, Grand Oaks Team | 0 comments

At Grand Oaks, many things happen behind the scenes to ensure smooth operations and satisfied residents – and Kevin Webber, Director of Sales and Marketing, plays a crucial role in that equation.

Learn more about Kevin and his role at Grand Oaks in our Q&A below.

Tell us about your background.

Kevin: I joined the Grand Oaks team in February of 2017, but I’ve been involved in sales and sales management in senior living since 2003. So, I have a lot of experience!

How would you describe your role/responsibilities?

Kevin: As the Director of Sales and Marketing, I have a lot of different responsibilities. I help ensure our residents are satisfied, make sure we’re filling any vacancies in the community, talk to families, give tours, answer questions, and help people feel confident about moving in. I also work with our marketing partner to plan events, create marketing collateral, schedule photo and video shoots, and more!

I also have a fantastic team that helps me stay focused on my priorities and keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes; I couldn’t do my job without them.

What does an average day look like for you?

Kevin: Because I wear so many hats, there really isn’t a ‘typical’ day for me. However, one thing is always true – it’s nonstop! Working at Grand Oaks always keeps me on my toes, but I like it that way! There’s never a boring day.

How often do you interact with residents?

Kevin: I interact with residents all throughout my day. Since I’m always on the move, bouncing from one job to the next, I encounter many residents to chat or exchange a laugh with along the way.

How do you help new residents adjust and feel comfortable when they first move in?

Kevin: We always take new residents around Grand Oaks and give them a comprehensive tour of our facilities, common areas, dining room, outdoor grounds, their apartment, etc. This way, we can answer any questions they may have one-on-one and help alleviate any anxieties they may be feeling.

What are some of the most popular activities or programs offered at Grand Oaks?

Kevin: We offer so many wonderful activities at Grand Oaks, and residents seem to love them all. However, if I had to choose their favorites, I’d say exercise classes, movie showings, painting, and games.

What elements make Grand Oaks, Grand Oaks?

Kevin: We have an extremely strong sense of community and support network. Many of our staff members have been with us for over 10 years, which is pretty much unheard of in the healthcare industry. We don’t just clock in and clock out – this truly is a big family.

How do you and the Grand Oaks team build relationships with residents and their families?

Kevin: When meeting with a prospective resident or their family, I try to understand what the resident is looking for and what has led them to consider a senior living community. Understanding a resident’s needs is the first step, and trying to gain that understanding makes all the difference to families.

Describe the level of care available at Grand Oaks.

Kevin: At Grand Oaks, we cater to the diverse needs of seniors, whether they’re independent or require additional support, such as memory care. For all residents, we offer 24-hour nursing support and hands-on assistance with daily activities like housekeeping, laundry, transportation, bathing, dressing, and continence care.

Beyond that, we also have a full-time doctoral-prepared nurse practitioner on-site and direct access to Sibley Memorial Hospital’s emergency care, restorative care, and rehabilitation services. I’d say the level of care offered at Grand Oaks is unmatched by any other senior living facility in the country.

In your opinion, what differentiates Grand Oaks from other senior living facilities?

Kevin: Many things, but mostly our connection with Sibley Memorial Hospital and Johns Hopkins Medicine. Grand Oaks is located on the campus of Sibley Memorial Hospital, and we’re backed by the expertise of Johns Hopkins. As previously mentioned, residents have quick and direct access to world-class care if and when they need it.

What is your advice for families considering senior living for their loved ones?

Kevin: Choosing a senior living facility for your loved one is a monumental decision that you shouldn’t take lightly. I really encourage you to dive into research and don’t hesitate to ask plenty of questions! The more you know, the better. My colleague and I sat down and answered some of the most common questions we get from families – check them out here!

What do you like to do in your free time?

Kevin: I love exercising, including cross-country skiing, biking, and hiking. Every fall, I spend nearly three weeks hiking and biking in Maine. I’ve also visited more than 35 National Parks!
